Ganderbal, Oct 30 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) on Friday organised awareness programmes on communicable and non-communicable diseases in Wakura and Safapora blocks of Ganderbal district to promote health awareness and preventive practices among rural communities. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that, on the directions of JKRLM Mission Director Dr Shubhra Sharma, the programmes were organised at the Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU), Wakura, and CD Block Safapora. The spokesperson said the initiative aimed to utilise JKRLM’s extensive institutional outreach and community network to strengthen health awareness and promote informed health practices among rural communities. At BMMU Wakura, Dr Misbah Qureshi from PHC Zazna conducted an awareness session on communicable and non-communicable diseases. She sensitised participants about the causes, symptoms and preventive measures associated with these diseases, while emphasising the importance of early detection, timely diagnosis and appropriate healthcare practices. Speaking on the occasion, Madina Bukhari, Block Programme Manager, JKRLM Wakura, termed the programme informative and useful, saying its learnings would be disseminated among all self-help group (SHG) members through the block's community network.
